Square Inch Price
I charge 2 cents per square inch for most edge-to-edge designs.
Example: A quilt top is 60 inches x 80 inches. 60 x 80 = 4800 x .02 = $96.
Custom quilting rates range from 3.5 cents to 6.0 cents per square inch dependent upon complexity or density of the design.
My minimum quilting charge is $40. This means that a small quilt or table runner's square inch price will be rounded up to the $40 minimum. I will accept a wall hanging (up to 20" by 20") as an ADD-ON to another project of yours at a $25 minimum.
Batting
I stock Quilter's Dream batting in multiple fibers: 100% cotton, cotton-poly blend in natural or black, wool, and bamboo. If there is a fiber you want I do not have in stock, I can short order for you.
Batting is a separate charge and is NOT included in the square inch price.
I charge for batting by the linear inch from queen rolls of batting except in the case of special orders. I will use only what is needed for your quilt (smallest side + a 5" margin) and charge per inch.
For example, if you have a 60" x 80" quilt, I would cut 65" of the batting of your choice.
65" of 100% cotton @ $0.38/linear inch = $24.70
Thread
I stock Glide threads. I don't charge any extra fees for thread use - it's included in your square inch price.
My personal style attempts to match or blend thread color with the lighter areas of your quilt, but this is YOUR quilt! Let me know if you have a preference on thread color.
Trimming
I will trim your quilt by your request at no extra charge. All materials will still be included with the return of your finished quilt unless you specify otherwise.
Binding
This is an optional service that some clients appreciate not having to do themselves.
'The Whole Shebang' includes making the binding from your yardage, attaching it by machine to one side of your quilt and finishing the second side - by machine @ 20 cents per linear inch, or by hand @23 cents per linear inch.
Already have your binding made? Great!
I can attach it to one side by machine and let you finish for 10 cents/inch.
I can attach and finish by machine for 17 cents/inch.
I can attach by machine and finish by hand for 20 cents/inch.
Shipping
Shipping your top and backing to me: I live in central Illinois , USA, and would be happy to receive your top and backing by mail. I'd recommend sending your materials enclosed in some kind of sack or bag to protect against possible moisture in transit and then placed in a hard-sided cardboard box. Make sure the box is securely taped and labeled clearly.
Return shipping: I will send your quilt back to you in the manner described above via USPS Priority mail (using flat rate when possible/economical). Priority mail comes with $50 of insurance and a tracking number but please indicate on your intake form if you would like me to buy any additional insurance on your behalf. It's a great idea to insure your valuables against loss or damage while with the Postal Service, but I don't require it.
